Who Am I?
Dr. Christian Amalu
Christian Amalu graduated from The Institute for the Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University in 2024 and obtained his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology. He also holds a master’s degree in psychology from Divine Mercy University and a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from California State University, East Bay. Dr. Amalu completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Baylor University Counseling Center and is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Counseling Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Dr. Amalu has worked in a breadth of settings including: private practice, community mental health center, inpatient addiction rehabilitation center, military academy, and university counseling center. Throughout his training, Dr. Amalu has sought instruction in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of therapy and is an IFS-Informed Therapist. Dr. Amalu adheres to an Integrationist theoretical orientation, drawing primarily from IFS, Interpersonal Psychology, and Psychodynamic/Attachment approaches.
Dr. Amalu enjoys working with college students/emerging adults, service-members and veterans, and those seeking to integrate faith into their therapy. He also has special interest in working with trauma, complex trauma, attachment issues, men’s/masculinity issues, relational issues, OCD/scrupulosity, group therapy, marital therapy, and anxiety.
